The New Kadampa Tradition of Mahayana Buddhism first appeared in Croatia in 2000 with the founding of Kailash Buddhist Centre (Budistički centar Kailash) in Split, on the Dalmatian coast.

Buddha's teachings are meant for anyone who has interest - from those wanting simply to learn how to relax, to those seeking lasting inner peace and contentment by following the Buddhist spiritual path.

All our programs are held in the Croatian language and runs from early September to late June each season.

We hope to establish branch groups also in some other places in Croatia, although this will now depend on receiving financial support from elsewhere. (If you think you might like to help with our branch project in this way, please get in touch – contact details below.)

Nearly all of Geshe-la's books, as well as many of the sadhanas, have now been translated into Croatian. Three - 'Introduction To Buddhism', 'New Meditation Handbook' and 'How To Solve Our Human Problems' - are professionally printed and available for sale in many bookshops around the country, while the others are available to order in good quality script format.

Work on the books has been ongoing for several years, with Centre students actively involved in all aspects of production – translation, editing, re-editing, design, pagemaking, printing, binding, promotion, distribution…

However, to fulfil our wish of producing all Geshe-la's titles professionally-bound will require a lot of financial support. If you wish to contribute to this aim, then please contact us (see above).

Here it is – a great opportunity to take a break from things and visit Croatia's fascinating Dalmatian coast!

From mid-May to mid-September 2010 Kailash Centre, Split, is offering accommodation at very reasonable rates. During this period we will have one room available in the Centre, suitable for anyone who would like to visit.

We are situated at first-floor level in a quiet street just a few minutes' walk from Split's old town centre. There is plenty to see and do in town, with interesting excursions to the islands as well as to smaller towns up and down the coast.
